Erik's Mojo Award says it better to me. The top Etchells competitor wins the
event. the Mojo award becomes relevant for encouraging participation and
growth in our fleet.
Thanks,
Betsy

I think I have a good name for this: The Etchells Top Competitor Award.
It is simple and would then simply need a deed to explain the parameters of
the award as was proposed.
Hope this is helpful. Congradulations to all Fleet 11 competitors, from my
waterlogged perspective it was a really good event!

Perpetual. Let's put it above the bar, and put the 2008 logo on it, etc.
something that commemorates that the world's were here, and to give us all
something to shoot for as we go to future world's, jaguar cups, NA's, etc.
I'll see if ricky has any left over 2008 stuff we could recycle and mount in
a way that it would match the trophies that we already have up there. We
might consider a more eloquent name, although I do like the sound of big
fleet mojo...
Best,
e

Erik, great idea and thank you for your support in offering to sponsor this
new trophy. Are you thinking of a perpetual and a keeper or just an annual
keeper? Either idea works well.
Now the real challenge will be working to see Aaron, Dan & John behind us as
we do fleet racing! That will certainly be challenging. They deserve
special recognition. Thanks for thinking of a great idea. Jack

Jack,
Thanks for extending the thank you. The whole event was spectacular, and I
think we all were pleased to see that our fleet can compete at the highest
level. This should attract more great sailors like randall to our fleet,
which only means more fun for all of us. Hopefully our sponsors also felt
that their involvement was worthwhile, as this event would not have happened
without them.
To that end, I'd like to offer up a new trophy at this year's awards. Let's
award a trophy to the fleet 11 boat that beats the most number of other
boats at a competition during the year. If you win the season championship,
you only beat 23 boats, but if you take 18th at the worlds, you have beaten
65 boats, and deserve something special. Even if no boats go to the worlds,
we could award this to the boat that does the best at the north american's,
or the jaguar cup...but base it on the number of boats behind you at a big
event. Whoever has the best big fleet finish during the course of the year
gets the hardware.
Call it the "Fleet 11 Big Fleet Mojo Trophy."
Hopefully it will be a good incentive for our fleet to continue traveling
and honing our skills to compete with the world's best. I'll donate some
cash to buy a trophy, and would be pleased to award it to aaron, dan, and
john for their outstanding performance at this year's worlds, which is a
performance that deserves some recognition. While we all had tough days
toward the end of the regatta, aaron and company were pushing the best in
the world for a few days, which is no small feat. Way to go guys. I know
that we all let out a little cheer when we saw that big red 701 kite up in
the top pack.
Best,
Erik

substantial investment & support.
* Our new fleet member, Randall Pitman, for the great financial
support and encouragement he provided - welcome to Fleet 11 Randall. Good
luck and strong winds in your efforts to break the Mac record! We will
all be putting our money on Genuine Risk.

Fellow Sailors,
Thank you all for your diligent efforts over the past couple of years to
help make this an outstanding regatta. We should give special thanks to
Jim Stevens and Kevin Boyle for their sponsorship support.
Congratulations to Justin Palm, winner of Race 1 and the rest of my fellow
competitors from Fleet 11. We have new Etchells in our fleet for the
coming year, together with some proven world sailors.
Our Fleet looks strong and our future looks bright. Thanks again. Good
sailing to you all.
