Aaron,
It is great that you have brought our fleet into the 231st century with the
online form.
You say that the information requested is dictated by the class. I have been
a class member since 1973 and I don't recall ever signing a document with
this Pledge
PLEDGE
By putting your name in this box you hereby pledge to be bound by the
constitution, by-laws, rules and regulations of the International Etchells
Class Association and to abide by the rulings and decisions of its Officers
and Committees.
I don't disagree with it and am a strong believer in following our class
rules for all events, but I wonder how we sign this and then accept that our
fleet wants to do away with the weight limit for all races.
Thanks,
Betsy

This year we are going to finally enter the new millennium and fill out the
membership form and make payments online. For those that are adamantly
opposed
to this, please let me know and we can do it the old fashioned way.
There are two major advantages to doing this online. Less paper work for
all of
us and almost no chance of something getting lost along the way.
There are two steps to this process:
1. Go to http://www.etchellsfleet11.org/2010membership.html and fill out
the
form. This form only collects the class required data. It does NOT ask for
any
payment information. The information you provide here is the same
information
that we have all provided on the paper forms in the past.
2. Once you have submitted the form, within 48 hours, you will receive a
notice
from Chase (the Bank where the Fleet 11 account is held) telling you that
you
have an invoice to pay. In that e-mail will be a link to "QuickPay". If
you
follow that link you will be able to see the invoice and then pay it online
as
well. You DON'T need to have a Chase bank account in order to use QuickPay,
you
can bank at virtually any US based bank and use QuickPay to pay your dues.
The reason for making your payment via QuickPay is that at no time will I
see
any of your banking information. I simply put together the invoice asking
for
the payment. From there Chase sends you the e-mail and Chase collects your
information in order for you to make the payment. Once that is done, I only
get
a message that says you made a payment and I will see that the Fleet 11
account
has been credited with that amount.
There may be a little bit of a learning curve with this. I ask you to be
patient and stick with it. In the future it will be easier because you will
have already set up your QuickPay service.
If you have problems with the form on the Fleet 11 web site, let me know.
If
you have problems with QuickPay, you can utilize the "Help with this page"
link
or the "Contact Us" link that is on each page of the Chase web site.
